French Australian
French Australians (French: Franco-Australiens) are residents of Australia who are of French ancestry.
According to the 2006 Australian census 19,186 Australian residents were born in France[2] while 98,332 claimed French ancestry, either alone or with another ancestry.[1]
Demography
At the 2006 Census 19,189 Australian residents stated that they were born in France.[1] Of these 12,735 had Australian citizenship.[3] 8,281 residents (43%) had arrived in Australia in 1979 or earlier.[3]
